The Book

Heroes of Change is a book about how people find their way back to themselves. It began in a season when my life felt untethered, when the stories I had lived by no longer held and I wasn’t sure how to begin again. I had spent years studying change, but when my own life unraveled, I discovered that transformation does not come from theories or frameworks or neatly ordered steps. It rises from people. From presence. From the quiet courage of those who walk beside us.

What grew from that season became the Heroic Change Model™, a way of understanding five movements that shape how we grow: Awakening, Calling, Leaping, Emerging, and Becoming. These movements are stages we encounter, but not only once. They return as rhythms, taking new shape across the course of our lives. Along my own path, five individuals appeared within these movements, each offering something I didn’t know I needed until it arrived.
Here’s a glimpse of who you’ll meet along the way:

Awakening

You meet someone whose compassion is disarming. A person who has spent a lifetime keeping company with people the world overlooks and still believes deeply in human goodness. His presence helps you notice what has been waiting inside you, not by offering answers but by offering kinship and quiet, steady care.

Calling

Here you encounter a true force of nature, someone who turns ordinary jobs into a ministry of care and purpose. He calls people into roles that matter and treats them as trusted contributors from the very beginning. Bit by bit, you begin to rise to the dignity he sees in you. And in his company you begin to feel the surprising truth that purpose grows wherever someone believes you matter.

Leaping

This movement introduces two guides whose work forms a kind of conversation. One gathers people and ideas, weaving connections in places where the social fabric has begun to fray. The other builds something tangible and principled, proving that values can hold their shape even in the marketplace. Together, they invite you to step beyond old stories and toward a future shaped by courage, integrity, collaboration, and resilience.

Emerging

Here you meet a seeker with a tender heart and a playful spirit. He has traveled through his own darkness and still chooses inquiry, wonder, and a reverence sometimes found in the unlikeliest of places. With honesty and humor, he helps you face what you would rather avoid, reminding you that meaning is something we make together.

Becoming

In the final movement, all five return in the echoes of the lessons they offered. Their presence gathers as you reclaim your own story, and you begin to understand that becoming isn’t a finish line. It is a way of living, shaped by the people who held you when you couldn’t hold yourself.

At its heart, Heroes of Change is a book about finding your way back to yourself in a world that can feel fractured and uncertain. These five people helped me rediscover meaning when I had nearly lost my own thread, and their presence on the page offers a way forward through purpose, presence, and the quiet courage we give one another. If you are longing for a story that steadies you, lifts you, and reminds you that your own becoming is still unfolding, I hope you will step into these pages and discover just how possible change can be.
